Shakespeare

From the street the combination of recycled face brick, metal cladding and textured walls make reference to the eclectic style of the streetscape. Soft curves, making reference to the existing house, add interest to the overall form and provide a point of difference from the neighbouring properties which the home owners were after.

Beyond the entry, a light filled, wide, linear corridor that offers glimpses to green spaces outside leads into the heart of the home. The raised open plan kitchen, living and dining are demarcated by ceiling bulkheads and coffers which provide compression and expansion depending on the space. The alfresco behaves as an extended threshold connecting both internal and external spaces with glimpses to the pool in the distance. Bookending the ground floor shared spaces are the private spaces, two bedrooms, a guest to the east and the master suite to the west. The upper floor was designed to be the kids’ wing, with two bedrooms divided by a large retreat offering opportunity to be separated in the future should the need arise. The interior material palette of industrial concrete floor, timbers, dark and light joinery we derived from the exterior ensuring a cohesive language through the home.
