Balandi

This project was designed for a design savvy and open minded young couple. This home embraces natural materials which is reflected in the use of light timbers and travertine tones. The front facade is a juxtaposition of contemporary shapes, two contrasting window designs top and bottom. One punching through a painted axon clad wall and the other inversed, a “square within a square” with geometric splayed angles. There are contrasts of white and bronze on the front facade which in time will be taken over by greenery encouraged to grow across the diamond shaped cables across the top floor.

The ground floor focuses around the centrepiece of this home, the sweeping sculptural helical staircase. Central to the home, this staircase is flooded by natural light to make this statement piece stand out like a piece of art. It reaches up through a curved double void, around this is the kitchen, living, dining and cabana. Off these spaces are the laundry, powder room, garage and a guest bedroom towards the front. This guest space is separated from the home and creates an internalised courtyard. On the upper floor there is a master suite with robe and ensuite, two other bedrooms, bathrooms and ample storage.
